AML3D Launches High-Tech U.S. Facility to Power Submarine Supply Chain

Advanced Manufacturing Hits U.S. Soil
AML3D Limited (ASX:AL3), a leader in Wire-arc Additive Manufacturing (WAM®), has officially opened its new Technology Facility in Stow, Ohio, a major milestone in expanding America’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and deepening the AUKUS defence collaboration. The plant also creates new jobs in the Ohio economy.

Supporting Submarines and Security
The state-of-the-art facility uses AML3D’s proprietary WAM® process to manufacture large-scale, high-strength metal components for critical defence programs. A top priority: supplying parts for the U.S. Navy’s Virginia-class submarine program — enabling faster, cheaper, and more sustainable production than traditional methods.

“This facility represents more than just an expansion of our operations – it’s a strategic investment in America’s defence industrial base,” said Pete Goumas, President and CEO of AML3D USA.

“By establishing advanced manufacturing capabilities on U.S. soil, we’re helping to ensure the Navy has reliable, domestic access to the critical components needed for the submarine programs that are vital to national security.”

AUKUS Partnership in Action
The facility strengthens the trilateral AUKUS alliance by anchoring AML3D’s Australian-developed technology in the U.S. “AML3D’s investment in Ohio demonstrates the practical benefits of the AUKUS partnership,” said Sean Ebert, AML3D’s Global CEO. “This facility enables us to support all three AUKUS nations while strengthening the allied defence industrial base.”

Local Impact, National Purpose
Ohio Congresswoman Emilia Sykes (OH-13) praised AML3D’s investment:“I was glad to have the opportunity to tour AML3D’s advanced manufacturing facility and meet with their team and witness the strengthening of America’s defence manufacturing capabilities firsthand. AML3D exemplifies our district’s leadership in cutting-edge manufacturing that not only provides a path to a safer future, but also supports local jobs and growth.”

The plant will create skilled jobs in engineering and manufacturing, with AML3D partnering with educational institutions to train a future-ready workforce.

“This investment represents our confidence in Ohio’s skilled workforce and business environment,” said Goumas. “We’re committed to building long-term partnerships with local suppliers and educational institutions to create a sustainable advanced manufacturing ecosystem.”

Ready for Growth
Already, two AML3D systems operate at the U.S. Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence. The new Stow facility marks the first step in AML3D’s broader U.S. expansion. With growing demand across defence, aerospace, and energy, the company is eyeing further growth and new facility locations.

In a symbolic moment, the grand opening featured the handover of a completed manufacturing system for the Tennessee Valley Authority, demonstrating the facility’s dual-use potential in both civilian and defence infrastructure.

Strategic Security, Onshore Supply
By bringing critical manufacturing back onshore, AML3D’s Ohio facility enhances supply chain resilience and supports strategic security goals for the U.S. and its allies.
