AML3D Secures A$2.27M Contract with Tennessee Valley Authority to Expand US Presence

“This ARCEMY® X order from the TVA is very much aligned with the US Scale Up growth strategy we have in place,” said AML3D CEO Sean Ebert, as the company announced a landmark A$2.27 million contract to supply the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) with its large-scale ARCEMY® X system. The deal marks AML3D’s strategic expansion beyond the Defence sector and into the US Utilities market, a significant step in its broader growth strategy.

Ebert elaborated on the importance of the contract: “When we launched the US Scale Up strategy back in February 2023, our focus was on the Defence sector, which has already delivered close to A$14 million in contract wins. The next step was always to expand beyond Defence, so it is very pleasing to see our ARCEMY® X system selected by the TVA. This demonstrates the relevance of ARCEMY® across US manufacturing and reinforces how our US strategy will continue to accelerate growth and value creation.”

The TVA, a federally owned corporation and the largest public utility in the US, selected the ARCEMY® X system following a rigorous competitive tender process. The system will be installed at TVA’s Muscle Shoals, Alabama service facility, enhancing its power generation repair capabilities with advanced additive manufacturing technology. The contract includes two years of service and maintenance, with an option for extension, and aligns with AML3D’s focus on establishing a strong foothold in the US Utilities sector.

Building momentum in the US market

Pete Goumas, President of AML3D US, shared his enthusiasm for this milestone: “It is very exciting to be working with the TVA and creating new growth opportunities in the Utilities sector to complement our continuing success supplying the US Navy’s Submarine Industrial base. My view is AML3D’s advanced manufacturing technology advantage—being able to supply superior quality components and repairs to complex parts with dramatically reduced lead times and waste—makes us a good fit for power utilities.”

This deal reflects AML3D’s ability to diversify its market reach while maintaining a focus on innovation and quality. The ARCEMY® X system, a large-format wire arc manufacturing technology, offers unparalleled efficiency, reducing lead times and material waste while delivering superior-quality components. The contract will see the first ARCEMY® X system built at AML3D’s newly established US Technology Centre in Stow, Ohio, and it is expected to be fully commissioned in the latter half of 2025.

Goumas added: “Expanding into the US Utilities sector is just the beginning. There are significant opportunities to continue to expand our technology into the US Aerospace, Oil & Gas, and Marine sectors as well. We are just getting started.”

Strategic growth beyond defence

AML3D’s entry into the Utilities sector represents the next phase of its US Scale Up strategy, which began with a focus on the Defence sector. Over the past year, AML3D has secured close to A$14 million in Defence-related contracts, particularly with the US Navy’s submarine industrial base. Building on this momentum, the company is now positioning itself to tap into other key industries, including Utilities, Aerospace, Oil and Gas, and Marine sectors.

The ARCEMY® X system order underscores the scalability and adaptability of AML3D’s advanced manufacturing solutions. By addressing the unique challenges of the Utilities sector, such as the need for rapid repairs and high-quality components, AML3D is carving out a niche in a new market while continuing to support its existing customer base.

Positioned for growth

The contract also highlights AML3D’s commitment to strengthening its US operations. Recent capital raised by the company is being used to expand its facilities to meet increasing demand for its technology. The TVA partnership demonstrates the company’s ability to win competitive contracts and highlights the broader potential of ARCEMY® systems across multiple industries.

As AML3D scales its operations in the US, its advanced additive manufacturing capabilities will likely open doors to even greater opportunities. Ebert concluded: “This entry into the US Utilities sector supports our decision to expand further into the US market. The growth in demand for our technology across various sectors underpins our confidence in the relevance and impact of ARCEMY®.”

With the TVA order as a launching pad, AML3D is set to continue its trajectory of growth, proving its value as a key player in the global advanced manufacturing industry.
