Archer becomes first Australian company to partner with the World Economic Forum’s Centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution

The first industrial revolution saw the rise of factories and mass production, the second brought about cars and phones, the third brought about the internet and globalisation, and the fourth—the one we’re currently living through—is advancing artificial intelligence, automation and more.

Each new industrial revolution has brought about a transformation that we can’t imagine our lives without today. The fourth is no less.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is a “new chapter in human development”, notes the World Economic Forum. It is a summation of the technological advances giving us a peek into the future—not just of industries but everyday lives. And for the first time, an Aussie company will be part of it.

Semiconductor company Archer Materials (ASX: AXE), known for its development of advanced technologies like a qubit processor, is the first Australian company to partner with the World Economic Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR).

CEO of Archer, Dr Mohammad Choucair, said, “The partnership with the Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution gives Archer a seat at the table with global leaders in industry.

“Archer will also have opportunities to accelerate its technology through exclusive access to collaborate with top institutions. Becoming a member of C4IR will provide Archer with several pathways to develop and advance semiconductor technologies.”

Archer’s qubit processors are set to reimagine tech as we know it, from our smartphones to medical devices. The Forum’s C4IR partnership further validates the Company’s capabilities. The partnership provides collaborators access to use its semiconductor technology, develop products and boost R&D. It also complements Archer’s strategic partnerships with tier-1 manufacturers and research hubs to secure future manufacturing capability and service and support technology development.

Archer is the only ASX-listed company and one of the few worldwide pioneering accessible and practical quantum computing technology. Archer will utilize the C4IR partnership to reinforce its foothold in the industry through global initiatives that help deploy technologies set to transform economies and societies.

Head of Network and Partnerships for the C4IR and Member of the Executive Committee of the World Economic Forum, Sebastian Buckup, said, “Across the C4IR, more than 300 policy and governance experts, and 450 innovators and technology pioneers are driving progress on critical initiatives. Together with our public and private partners, we are harnessing the full potential of technological progress for the equitable and human-centered transformation of industries, economies and societies.”

By working with the Forum’s C4IR, Archer will connect and collaborate with respected institutions, positioning itself as a leader in industry advancements. These connections can give the Company a competitive edge to drive innovation in its operations.

Archer will tap into the collective knowledge and expertise of the Forum’s policy and governance experts and innovators and tech pioneers. Understanding societal viewpoints in different jurisdictions allows Archer to align its strategies and offerings to better meet the needs of various stakeholders.

In addition to its collaboration with the Forum’s C4IR, Archer’s macro-level initiatives also enhance its technological prowess. Cooperation with industry giants, like GlobalFoundries, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC)—the largest chip producer in the world, the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML), and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), are ensuring future semiconductor product manufacturing capability and comprehensive support for ongoing technology development.

By securing such powerful alliances, Archer is poised to capitalise on rising demand for semiconductor capabilities and shape the Fourth Industrial Revolution as the first Australian company accepted into the network.
