Buddy Technologies to ride Amazon Prime Day with Alexa bundle sales boost

Smarthome tech company Buddy Technologies (ASX: BUD) is set to see a big increase in the adoption of their smart lighting solutions through Amazon Prime Day, where the behemoth retailer will be offering a bundle promo for USD $18.99 which normally retails for $59.98.

The bundle which will be available only on Amazon Prime Day, October 13-14, will include an Amazon Echo Dot along with one of Buddy Technologies LIFX White lighting products which can be voice-activated by users once connected to an Amazon Alexa device, such as Echo.

“We were thrilled to have been selected by Amazon’s Devices team to help drive engagement of Alexa Smart Home through these Prime Day bundle deals”, said Buddy Technologies CEO, David McLauchlan.

“Adjusting a home’s lighting by using only your voice remains one of the most impactful uses for the Alexa Smart Home by consumers, and to enable that we’re exceptionally proud of our close relationship with Amazon’s Alexa team.”

“Over the next two days, hundreds of thousands of households that have never before experienced the convenience and joy of voice controlled lighting powered by LIFX and Amazon, will do so for the first time.”

Amazon Prime Day itself will not see any material impact for Buddy Technologies and their LIFX lighting division because all LIFX products that are being promoted in the Amazon Prime Day bundle have already been purchased by Amazon and held at Amazon fulfillment centres.

Buddy anticipates the day to still be the single largest day of LIFX sales and by getting the smart home lighting products into the hands of Americans and Europeans, the bulk of Amazon Prime Day customers, further sales opportunities will be presented from customers seeking more smart lighting products.

With the Wi-Fi connectivity already built into LIFX lights, customers can simply remove the light from the box and screw it into a lamp fixture where it can then be paired with Alexa.

Headquartered in South Australia, Buddy Technologies has offices in the US, Ireland and China where their wi-fi enabled lights are used in one million homes and sold through leading retailers and ecommerce platforms.

FY20 was the most successful for Buddy Technologies which increased its sales revenues to $31 million, up from the previous year’s $8.9m.

Earlier in the month, Buddy Technologies secured distribution deals with retail giants Costco and Lowes which the Company expects will triple their US retail sales.
