Cashed up, UNITH marches towards launching Digital Human self-service platform

From impressive development milestones that delivered a successful capital raise, artificial intelligence (AI) company UNITH (ASX: UNT) kicked critical goals across the March quarter in their path towards commercialising their self-service Digital Human platform which will allow any business owner to employ a digital human that comes without the baggage of traditional labour hire. 

Importantly for a growth company, their revenue model is supporting their lofty ambitions where the Company had a miniscule $54k cash outflow to go with $5.5 million in the bank. Being well-funded to continue progressing development and commercialisation, UNITH has several projects underway. One of the most anticipated projects of 2023 is the possibility to scale up and extend the Digital Human service offering to individual users and small-medium businesses via a self-service platform. Aiming to target a wider demographic beyond UNITH’s existing major corporate clients, the self-service platform will be distributed using a freemium revenue model and is targeted for a soft launch in December 2023. 

The self-service platform will benefit anyone from individuals with learning difficulties to small-medium enterprises that are looking to amp up their performance without having to increase their salary budget. A business owner could upload their sales catalogue, website information, or frequently asked questions to the platform, and deploy the Digital Humans to assist with customer service and sales enquiries 24/7. With timing being a critical factor in closing sales, digital humans will provide customers with genuine shopping experience as if they were served by a real sales assistant be it day or night, eliminating reliance on business hours,  human errors or staff taking sick days

The freemium revenue will enable users to create a digital human for free with limited functionalities such as answering questions based on the data set provided. They could then upgrade those functionalities for extra features such as (and not limited to) larger documents, more language options, multiple conversations at once, customisable appearances for their digital human, and many more. Similar models have been observed to work successfully in many other Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and tech companies such as Zoom, Slack, Canva, and even OpenAI – the creators of ChatGPT.

UNITH has observed successful test outcomes in integrating GPT technology with the Digital Human platform, which was one of the most pivotal steps required for the platform’s scalability. . The initial testing demonstrated the platform’s ability to generate correct answers using small data sets (e.g. Wikipedia and company websites). Meanwhile, testing with larger data sets (e.g. employee handbooks and operating manuals) is underway and expected to be completed by June 2023. 

Aside from the successful GPT integration, UNITH also underwent a major server upgrade to optimise bandwidth usage by 15x. This provides near-instant conversation generation on any device while making the Digital Humans more human-like than ever. 

Commenting on the achievements during the quarter, UNITH CEO Idan Schmorak said: “We are excited to continue to build out our technology platform and work towards delivering our 2023 Roadmap. Our development team has been expanded and are focused on commercialisation activities that will enable UNITH to deliver on its growth strategy.”

Beyond the March quarter reporting period, UNITH completed technical integrations of the Digital Human platform with the NVISO platform in April, a leading provider of AI-enabled visual intelligence solutions. The two formed a partnership earlier in the year to integrate NVISO’s behavioural analytics into UNITH digital humans in conversational settings, making the digital humans more relevant for various target products and markets. The project aims to launch physical display deployment in Japan in the September 2023 quarter.
