Catapult enhances off-field sports analytics partnering with PUSH and Pro Quick Draw

Already the market leader when it comes to on-field data analytics in professional sports, Catapult Sports (ASX: CAT) is making a strong push into off-field and pre-game technology, signing partnerships with tech companies PUSH and Pro Quick Draw.

The partnerships will enable Catapult to increase their software-as-a-service offering to existing customers, particularly in the United States with Pro Quick Draw being a software plug-in specifically designed for American Football.

Once installed, the Pro Quick Draw software will pair with Catapult Thunder, enabling coaches, scouts and high-performance staff to organise playbooks, scout cards and presentations in a dynamic manner. Easily plugged in are more than 250 pre-built formations for offence and defence originally formulated by Founder Andy Bischoff, a nine-year NFL veteran coach and the current Tight Ends Coach with the Houston Texans

“Our team at Pro Quick Draw is proud to partner with Catapult, who we view as one of the most credible names servicing the highest levels of American football,” said Pro Quick Draw owner, Britt Bischoff.

“We view this as a unique opportunity to bring the innovation of Pro Quick Draw to the power and functionality of Catapult Thunder allowing us together to create a far greater overall experience for coaches and players all over America.”

Further enhancing their off-field software, Catapult has also partnered with Toronto-based PUSH which delivered a detailed view of an athlete’s performance by quantifying their performance in the weight room. Data collected there can then be layered against on-field analysis to offer further insights into performance. Such data would be most insightful in strength-centred positions such as offensive and defensive lineman in American football.

“The potential of this partnership is a game changer for all sport teams. Over the last eight years, I’ve consistently heard our clients ask if PUSH can be used on the field or if Catapult can be used in the gym; with this partnership, the goal of a unified and seamless sports technology experience is just around the corner,” said PUSH Founder and Chief Product Officer, Rami Alhamad.

Since the onset of COVID-19 which resulted in lockdowns to professional sports and standard training practices, athletes around the world have had to adapt to stricter training conditions and access. Subsequently, it led many to adjust their training regimes following a major increase in soft-tissue injuries among elite athletes that had their pre-season training interrupted by the pandemic.

Catapult is expected to report their Half-Year results in the coming weeks but should be in a strong position having extinguished a USD $13.9 million loan facility in November 2020, citing “cash flow increases”.
