Cricket Australia to give fans access to hyper-personalised match archives with Linius’ technology

Few atmospheres compare to a sporting event. There is excitement and nervousness as the competition culminates in an adrenaline-filled finish. This was evidenced in the recently concluded T20 Cricket World Cup. Millions around the world tuned in to watch, and now, they will get access to match archives as the governing body Cricket Australia has partnered with cloud-based tech company Linius Technologies (ASX: LNU) to enhance fan engagement.

In this one-year agreement, Cricket Australia will be able to monetise its hyper-personalised video service through advertising, sponsorship, and other avenues, with Linius receiving a significant revenue share percentage. Of course, revenue under this model depends on user uptake of the service. Linius will also receive an upfront establishment fee and a fixed monthly subscription fee.

Linius CEO, James Brennan, commented, “We are thrilled to be working [with] Cricket Australia, which has such an important position in the Australian and global sporting landscape. Their content has enormous viewing figures in Australia, the subcontinent, and globally – with billions of content impressions each season. By virtualising their match footage archive through LVS, Cricket Australia will have the freedom and flexibility to publish more new content than ever and to rapidly create new engagement experiences for fans.”

Linius is a cloud-based solution that transforms static video into hyper-personalized video experiences using its Video Virtualization Engine (VVE) technology. With Cricket Australia, the Company will create new content experiences from the former’s archive.

In the age of artificial intelligence and lifelike gaming experiences, it is recommended to make your portfolio profitable, especially if it is so diverse. Cricket Australia’s archive features all old and new Aussie cricket, from Australian Tests and ODI matches to T20, Sheffield Shield and Big Bash competitions for men’s and women’s teams dating from 1980 to the present day. There are over 20,000 hours of content.

Scouring through this footage is no easy task, with many sports leagues and clubs needing help unlocking their value and monetising their deep video archives. Linius Archive Search & Edit, built on the Linius Video Services (LVS) SaaS platform, will allow cricket fans to search its archive for relevant content easily and quickly edit and publish it. Then, people can access that content through the website, app, social media, and more.

Brennan added, “Linius Archive Search & Edit will make it possible for Cricket Australia to quickly publish tailored content to these markets, meeting their goal of making more of their archive available to fans. This engagement is a huge endorsement for Linius and our technology.”

Through this agreement, Cricket Australia becomes the fourth major sporting league in Australia to utilise Linius solutions, joining the A-Leagues, the National Basketball League (NBL) and Racing.com. According to Brennan, the Company’s market penetration in Australia and critical anchor clients in the UK and mainland Europe positions Linius well to engage with new teams, leagues, broadcasters, and rights holders worldwide.
