Cannabis consumers rejoice, medicinal cannabis provider Cronos Australia (ASX:CAU) is very close to finally releasing its Canview platform to make the procurement of the drug an easy affair.
The roll-out is happening across stages with the first one comprising a number of order fulfilment upgrades, process improvements and other efficiencies. It was deployed internally within the Company in May this year. It has helped increase the speed and accuracy of order processing for the distribution team.
Cronos Australia CEO, Rodney Cocks, commented, “We are very pleased to be delivering such a wide range of important new features to our large and growing number of CanView users.”
“The network effect on the platform is clear which will drive further patient, prescriber and pharmacist onboarding. We are confident that the improved functionality of the CanView 2.0 platform will not only provide a superior user experience but help Cronos Australia to maintain its current market-leading position.”
The Company launched its upgraded pharmacy ordering platform to the market in September, and over 3,000 pharmacy accounts on CanView have now successfully transitioned to the new software. Till now, the Company hasn’t received any major complaints about the new platform.
On the new Canview app, users can receive prescriptions and TGA approvals directly from doctors/prescribers that are on the platform. This way, patients can order repeats directly from Canview 2.0. Cronos is also working on setting up a feature that will display real-time availability of products.
If all goes well with the rollout, the Company will offer pharmacies the option of one touch integration with CanView so that they can save time and deliver orders efficiently.
Cronos has also completed stage three of the program which will be introduced in early October. Currently, there are about 800 doctors on the platform, which is 3% of all general practitioners in the country. The Company is recruiting more medical practitioners on to the platform and plans on meeting with clinical groups and individual doctors to offer CanView as the “all in one” education, prescribing and compliance tool to be used in clinical settings.
Through the app, doctors can generate electronic prescriptions, store TGA approval documents and view available stock levels during consultations with patients. Patients, on the other hand, will be able to receive prescriptions from CanView Prescribers and order repeats from the pharmacy through the mobile app. They can also track their orders and receive delivery notifications through the mobile app and through SMS.
While creating an online marketplace to sell marijuana might sound multiple kinds of whacky, it seems to be working well for Cronos as the platform cements its position as a reliable middleman between doctors and patients.
