CV Check gets Scantek on board to facially analyse potential employees

If applying for jobs wasn’t stressful enough, prepare to have your personal space invaded with facial recognition technology being a supplement to your CV. Pre-employment screening company CV Check (ASX: CV1) has teamed up with ID verification company Scantek to analyse faces of job candidates and ensure that they match with their CV. This way, they aim to check if the employee is who they say they are, and if the employee is alive. Yes, the paranoia is real.

Scantek will use advanced machine learning models to read and extract text from scanned images, such as employees’ ID or driver’s licence, within seconds. Then, CV Check will be using advanced biometric facial matching tech by Scantek to compare the face on the CV with the face on the ID document.

 This partnership positions CV Check as a regulatory tech (RegTech) leader, allowing the company to deliver fully-automated ID verification. Besides facial recognition, CV Check will also employ tech to conduct a Liveness Check to see if the person on the other end is real or fake. As per the report, it should take the applicant less than 10 seconds to complete the Liveness Check.

CV Check has different products under its belt enabling its functioning. It comprises cloud-based workforce Cited, which was acquired in 2020, and the OnCite app, which they launched in 2022. Scantek is being incorporated into all these applications. 

Moreover, Scantek already boasts a track record of providing ID verification for some top companies, such as Australia Post, Telstra, ALH, Crown and The Star. With CV Check, it will gain access to many governmental and corporate institutions. The Company has also initiated a buy-back, as it is counting on this new tech to rake in the money.

There is no telling how profitable this partnership would be because we don’t know how necessary this invention is and whether employees would willingly engage with it. Additionally, this would raise some serious questions about privacy.   

Through its diversified tech, CV Check aims to cement itself as an internationally recognised and accepted solution for employee screening. Biometric identity validation is one of the Company’s goals for 2023, and the Scantek partnership brings CV Check closer to it. As per its FY22 report, another goal for the Company is to change its name, so that’s something to keep your eyes peeled for. 

CV Check expects to launch all of its biometric-related initiatives in Q2 FY23.
