Droneshield partners with UK’s largest telecommunications company

With rising advancements in drone technology, global counterdrone tech company DroneShield (ASX: DRO) has entered into a partnership with BT Group, the largest telecommunications company in the United Kingdom, to provide counterdrone solutions.

The major partnership continues to highlight commercialisation within the counterdrone space with DroneShield reporting revenues of more than $1 million in its March and June quarters as governments proactively prepare for potential disruptions and security threats carried out by drones.

“This is a watershed moment for DroneShield. Following the Christmas 2018 events at the Gatwick airport, when rogue drones brought UK air travel to a standstill, stranded hundreds of thousands of travelers and caused tens of millions of dollars in economic damage, the UK industry and government have been actively searching for effective and cost-effective drone detection and mitigation solutions,” said DroneShield CEO, Oleg Vornik.

“This is the first time that a major global telecommunications provider will offer standalone drone mitigation services to its customer base.

“This marks a significant point in the counterdrone industry’s development – counterdrone services are now as mainstream and customer-adopted as other telecommunications services, and can be purchased from a major telecommunications carrier.

With millions of customers spread out across the UK, BT maintains a significant amount of civil infrastructure in populous regions with European countries at the forefront of anti-drone security.

Offering both manned and unmanned counterdrone technology solutions, DroneShield’s products can detect for the presence of drones in airspace as well as neutralise them whilst landing safely. Other major global partners beyond BT include Thalse, Collins Aerospace and Bosch.
