Gaming company Mighty Kingdom (ASX: MKL) has partnered with some of the world’s most recognised brands like LEGO, Disney and now Google, with the Company today announcing a new contract.
Google will work with Mighty Kingdom for an upcoming technology partnership under a fixed term six month ‘work for hire’ agreement. Any description of the exact work to be done under the contract has been omitted by the Company in their recent announcement, leaving investors scratching their heads. After all, what can’t Google do?
The Company has seen recent growth as their games have sustained strong uptake worldwide. Mighty Kingdom’s foray into console games has been branded successful with excellent reviews from both players and the media for ‘Conan Chop Chop’, despite poor sales.
The game was developed alongside IP owners of the brand, Funcom. Conan Chop Chop can be purchased for $30 and is playable on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC. Prior to the release of Conan Chop Chop, Mighty Kingdom had established themselves as developers of mobile games for kids. Other games created by the developer include Peter Rabbit Run!, Star Trek Lower Decks and LEGO Friends Heartlake Rush.
While sales for their most recent game have struggled, the Company still marks it as a successful launch, having reported several inbound enquiries to collaborate with other developers. Sales are expected to pick up as positive reviews compound.
The Company is hopeful that the new partnership with Google will highlight their position as a leader in the Australian gaming industry.
Managing Director and CEO of Mighty Kingdom, Philip Mayes said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Google to pool our collective strengths and create something innovative. Making fun, accessible games has always been one of our key pillars, and we’re excited to see what will blossom from this partnership with Google.”
For the March quarter Mighty Kingdom saw a 31% year-on-year increase in revenue and reported a cash balance of $6.8 million as at 31 March 2022.
