Harris Technology to bring top gaming brands to Australia amid industry growth

While locked down through the pandemic, gaming emerged as one of the most popular means of entertainment. As first-time gamers are now evolving and driving industry growth, Harris Technology (ASX: HT8) has signed reseller deals to bring two of the world’s most popular gaming product brands into its portfolio.

Although pandemic lockdowns have now eased, there has been no slowing down across the industry where Harris Technology has seen an increase in gaming product sales as gamers advance their skills. Capitalising on this rising trend, Harris was last week appointed as an authorised reseller of brands RIG, Thrustmaster and Hercules, which manufacture some of the world’s most popular accessories within the gaming community.

“Over the past 12 months, we have seen demand grow for gaming products, with it emerging as one of the most popular means of entertainment during the pandemic,” said Harris Technology CEO, Garrison Huang.

“RIG, Thrustmaster and Hercules are all hugely popular brands amongst the gaming community. Through these brand appointments, we look forward to servicing Australia’s large and growing community of gamers by offering the best products across our eCommerce platforms.”

RIG is one of the most popular gaming headset brands in the world where their products offer 3D audio, now a must-have feature for immersive gaming experiences.

Thrustmaster specialises in gaming accessories with top line joysticks and racing wheels for PC and consoles while Hercules manufactures full audio solutions for aspiring and skilled DJs.

While Harris Technology has established itself as one of Australia’s longest-running resellers of IT and networking products, the Company has steadily increased its gaming products range in recent months. This has come at a time where Sony and Microsoft have released a new generation of platforms, spurring product upgrades from gamers to secure the latest tech that merges their gaming experiences with reality.

A full gaming setup can cost upwards of $5,000 which has the effect of increasing the checkout basket size for Harris.

Harris Technology reported strong Half-Year results for the period ended 31 December 2020 with a 365% increase in revenue to $19.4 million.

The global gaming market was valued at USD $162.3 billion in 2020 but factoring in new gamers entering the market during the pandemic, it is expected to reach US$295.6 billion by 2026 with the Asia Pacific region remaining the largest market.
