Continuing to leverage their healthcare technology, InteliCare (ASX: ICR) is furthering its push to give aged care residents privacy and autonomy while ensuring health standards can be maintained where loved ones will be able to track their condition remotely.
The launch of InteliLiving health metrics will enable those living independently to have health data uploaded to a cloud-based dashboard that will track the activity and wellbeing of residents through integration with wearable devices, such as FitBit. Information captured to the dashboard will include heart rate, weight and BMI, respiration, temperature, blood oxygenation, blood glucose, and activity (steps). Additional alerts can then be set if pre-set levels are exceeded or fall below a key threshold.
“InteliLiving® health metrics is meeting an immediate customer need with a free offering. It is a clear example of how we are able to leverage our open architecture IoT platform to build and incorporate new products to meet a rapidly evolving market and remain ahead of the market,” said InteliCare CEO, Jason Waller.
“It is the first step in a much deeper strategy to exploit our competitive advantage and gain deeper insights from AI to drive more efficient, better care.”
The InteliLiving app can also be integrated into InteliCare’s existing passive in-home sensors which track movement within homes, and set off alerts to care teams and loved ones when standard activity is out of the norm, or there has been no movement where there otherwise would be.
Health metrics and alerts will be available for free to existing customers of InteliLiving products while InteliCare will look at a tiered subscription model as it works toward adding more health metrics and integration with more wearable devices. Future upgrades, with approval from the Therapeutic Goods Association, are expected to include sensors that can deliver information about glucose levels and oxygen saturation.
With the onset of COVID-19 where aged care facilities have been significantly affected, restrictions to facility visits has seen increasing demand for telehealth products such as InteliLiving. According to InteliCare, it is estimated that in the United States alone, there is approximately USD$250 billion in annual healthcare spend that could be shifted to virtual or near-virtual care.
