Kids’ wearables company Spacetalk launches JumpySIM operations in Australia

Smartwatches, earbuds and other tech wearables have seen strong growth in the last few years as big brands like Apple and Samsung have compacted the capabilities of smartphones into something that you can wear on your wrist. 

The ‘wrist revolution’ prompted the development of a smartwatch that is child friendly, but that can also provide the same capabilities as a smartphone, and allow overprotective parents to monitor and keep a close eye on their children.

Excelling in this area, Spacetalk (ASX: SPA) has created its very own smartwatch for kids. The Spacetalk Adventurer and the Spacetalk Kids. Both products operate as simple mobile phones where kids can connect with their parents when they aren’t together. The smartwatches can send/receive calls and texts, along with a GPS tracker, camera, heart rate monitor, and Bluetooth connectivity. Subscriptions for the watch start at $5.99/month for two devices and $8.99/month for five devices. 

For Spacetalk’s wearables to operate, each device requires its own unique Nano SIM card to send and receive calls and texts. 

JumpySIM, operated by Spacetalk, was launched in the US in June 2022 and has officially made its way into Australia today, where it will be incorporated as part of Telstra’s 4G and 3G mobile network. JumpySIM has served as the first choice of mobile network provider for kids’ wearables in the US. 

Specifically designed for wearables, like kids’ smartwatches, the SIM plans include the right amount of data with unlimited calls and texts where subscriptions don’t cost too much. 

From today, all Spacetalk product sales will come bundled with a JumpSIM, where 1-, 6- and 12-month plans begin at $16.99 per month and will be offered to customers that purchase the wearables. Customers can choose other service providers but will then be required to pay the separate subscription costs, whereas the product subscription costs are removed if you use JumpySIM. 

The ecosystem that Spacetalk is developing aims to make the customer and user experience as straightforward as possible, where the Company has seen promising evidence from customer experiences in the US – seeing a high conversion rate of 80% from Spacetalk wearable purchases into JumpySIM subscriptions.

“JumpySIM will contribute to enhancing our business economics, including by contributing to our recurring revenues. The Adventurer eco-system upgrade will allow us to maintain our competitive advantage in the marketplace with one of the most technically sophisticated and functionally rich wearables in the market,” said Spacetalk CEO, Mark Fortunatow. 

Along with the launch of JumpySIM in Australia, Spacetalk has also announced a significant upgrade for its Spacetalk Adventurer watch. The upgrade will include; HD Video Calling, Kids Wellness and Feelings, Silly Sounds, Wi-Fi capabilities, and additional languages (German, Dutch and Italian). This upgrade further demonstrates Spacetalk’s goal to provide children wellness and safety and give parents peace of mind. The upgrade will commence in October 2022.
