Australian tech company MGM Wireless (ASX: MWR) has won a major contract from the Western Australia Department of Education to supply student absence notifications to all WA Government schools. 

The 2-year contract is valued at approximately $1.3 million with the WA Government having an option to extend a further 2 years. Under terms of the agreement, the schools will gain access to MGM’s full suite of school communications software, apps and services which have been designed to improve child safety, communication and accessibility. 

“We are thrilled to be selected by the WA Government. From a student safety perspective, student absence and emergency messaging are such important, mission critical systems, as we’ve all witnessed with the recent bushfires and now the Coronavirus threat,” said MGM CEO, Mark Fortunatow. 

“MGM’s systems are specifically designed for school and Education Department use and are renowned for their data security, quality and robustness.”

“Our latest versions incorporate advanced AI functionality that is particularly effective in engaging parents and delivering significant productivity savings to school staff”.

Already used by more than 1400 schools and 1.7 million parents, MGM’s school communications platform enables parents to be notified via SMS and push notifications to notify of truancy and improve safety standards at low cost. 

This platform is separate to MGM’s flagship product – AllMyTribe – which has developed a children’s smartphone, watch and GPS device called SPACETALK, which allows two-way phone calls and SMS messaging to a parent-controlled list of contacts but disables access to the wider internet and social media. 

Last month, the AllMyTribe app ranked as the #1 grossing navigation app in Australia and New Zealand which also saw MGM report record monthly revenue of $109,000 for the app through December 2019 – a 30% rise in month-on-month revenue.
