Orcoda’s transport tech expands to now service Queensland aged care community

Community transport services have a longstanding history of providing valuable assistance to elderly residents, especially in remote areas where taxis, Uber, and public transport are still lacking. It’s why community transport is crucial in helping residents access essential services like shopping, banking, or medical appointments.

Soon enough, residents in Comlink’s service area will enjoy a better booking experience as Comlink has engaged Orcoda Limited (ASX: ODA) for booking and fleet scheduling software solutions for the community transport operations. The contract value has yet to be disclosed.

A specialist in smart technology for transport logistics, Orcoda will integrate Comlink’s system with the Orcoda Logistics Management System and Booking System (OLMS). The OLMS Driver app will provide Comlink fleet drivers with features such as enhanced driver safety, real-time updates and route optimisation, while the OLMS Notification app allows Comlink clients to monitor the status of their orders real-time.

Commenting on the partnership, Orcoda’s Managing Director Geoff Jamieson, said: “We are delighted that Comlink has chosen Orcoda’s software platform to support the management of its community transport operations. We have deep experience in supporting community transport providers and look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship with Comlink.”

This partnership will apply Orcoda’s technology to be used in serving Comlink’s aged care and community services clients in the Sunshine Coast and the surrounding coastal region of South East Queensland. For Orcoda, this is a significant collaboration as it allows the Company to partner with one of the largest and most reputable community transport providers in the area with 30 years of experience and a substantial vehicle fleet.

Orcoda’s ultimate vision is to become a leading provider of Smart Cities transport technology solutions. The Company has had an extensive portfolio with major Australian companies in various sectors, one of its most recent clients being Australia’s largest rail-based transport business Aurizon Operations. Orcoda signed Aurizon in early June for the delivery and installation of LED lighting at Aurizon’s Callemondah Rail Yard, valued at $800,000.

In addition to their primary focus on healthcare logistics and infrastructure, Orcoda has other digital platform-based divisions. One of these is resource logistics, which handles contracts, management, and digital connectivity for major projects in Oil and Gas, Mining, and Infrastructure. Meanwhile, their logistic management system streamlines transport and supply chain logistics through fleet optimisation, route optimisation, risk reduction, and health and safety monitoring.

At the end of Q3 FY23, Orcoda’s cash and cash equivalent balance rose to $4.4 million compared to $2 million achieved at the end of the previous quarter (ending 31 December 2022). During the March quarter, Orcoda also witnessed a 33% increase in customer receipts to hit $5.3m thanks to the increased adoption of Orcoda’s software technology platforms. All in all, Orcoda closed the March quarter with $5.4m of available working capital including unused facilities.
