Recce Expands Patent Footprint into Brazil’s Growing Antibiotics Market

As demand grows for new solutions to combat antibiotic resistance, Brazil is emerging as a key market for anti-infective developers, offering both scale and steady growth.

Recce Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX:RCE) has moved to capitalise on this opportunity, securing a new patent grant that strengthens its global intellectual property position.

Recce Expands Patent Protection

Recce has been granted a Family 4 patent in Brazil for its RECCE® anti-infectives, with protection lasting until 2041.

The patent covers RECCE® 327 (R327) and RECCE® 529 (R529), including their preparation and use in treating bacterial and viral infections.

CEO James Graham highlighted the milestone.
“We thank the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property for their recognition of Recce’s platform technology.”

The Patent Targets Broad Infection Use

The patent supports applications across a wide range of infections, including skin infections, lung infections, urinary tract infections, influenza and SARS-CoV-2.

It also allows for multiple delivery methods, from oral and injectable to topical formats.

Mr Graham noted the strategic importance of the South America region.
“Patent protection is fundamental to Recce, and we are encouraged by the expansion of our patent portfolio into Brazil, South America’s largest antibiotic market.”

Builds Global Portfolio

This marks Recce’s seventh Family 4 patent, adding to approvals in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Israel and Japan.

The company continues to progress additional filings globally.

Mr Graham said the grant reflects broader ambitions.
“As we look to address the urgent and growing global burden of antibiotic-resistant superbugs, this granted patent is yet another intellectual property milestone.”

Recce is Positioned for Growth

According to Grand View Research, Brazil’s antibiotics market was worth around USD774.5 million in 2024 and is projected to grow to USD964.3 million by 2033.

With expanding patent coverage and a broad anti-infective pipeline, Recce is positioning itself to tap into rising global demand for new infection treatments.
