Spectur to expand shark surveillance tech across NSW beaches

Beachgoers in New South Wales will soon enjoy their time in the sun more comfortably with smart security company Spectur (ASX: SP3) having been awarded a contract from Surf Lifesaving NSW for solar-powered emergency response beacons.

The response beacons are the next generation of Spectur’s existing Shark Warning system. Over the next five months, the emergency response beacons will be rolled out across beach side locations in NSW to improve beach safety and amenity.

“We are delighted to partner with Surf Life Saving NSW to apply the unique technology we have developed through our Shark Warning platforms to a use case which is both critically important to Australian water safety and is complementary to our core target markets,” said Spectur Managing Director, Gerard Dyson.

“We see this as another great example of the broad recognition of Spectur’s product development expertise and the Company’s deep experience in delivering remote sensing and monitoring.”

The total value of the Surf Life Saving contract is valued at $351,810 and includes upfront hardware for the beacons, data provision, cloud hosting, software subscription and maintenance for the first 12 months. It is also the single largest contract won by Spectur.

Beyond their shark detection tech, Spectur also manufactures a range of land-based smart security solutions such as long-range thermal vision cameras and landscape management systems.

The Company has recently cleared a production backlog which has supported their growing rental fleet as well as their recent entry into New Zealand through the establishment of a reseller network.
