Wide Open Agriculture Expands Global Footprint with New Sales in Europe, Latin America & Australia

Lupin Protein Gains Global Momentum

Wide Open Agriculture (ASX:WOA) is making significant strides in the global plant-based protein market, securing initial commercial sales and purchase orders across five continents. This latest development highlights the growing demand for WOA’s lupin protein isolates, and positions the company as a key player in the alternative protein sector.

“These sales are an important step in proving the commercial viability of our lupin protein,” said Yaxi Zhan, WOA’s Chairperson. “We’ve successfully demonstrated that our products meet the functionality and quality expectations of food manufacturers worldwide.”

New Sales Mark Key Industry Validation

WOA has received purchase orders for over five metric tonnes of its lupin protein isolate, LP90 and Buntine Protein®, from multiple international buyers, including:

  • Tarwi, a European health food company focused on lupin-based products.
  • A Mexican ingredient distributor looking to introduce lupin protein to the Latin American market.
  • A Latin American distributor with operations in Argentina and Chile.
  • An Australian food manufacturer incorporating WOA’s protein into new product formulations.

“These sales reinforce the global potential of our lupin protein and its ability to meet consumer demand for clean, high-performance plant-based ingredients.” Zhan said.

Strategic Focus on High-Value Markets

WOA’s strategy is clear: target premium food and beverage manufacturers while optimising production costs.

“As a company operating with a semi-commercial plant, our goal has always been to validate our protein’s market potential before scaling production. Now, we’ve done just that.” Zhan added.

WOA’s European partner, Tarwi, is preparing to launch a reformulated protein powder featuring WOA’s lupin protein to its 30,000+ Instagram followers.

We’re thrilled to be working with Wide Open Agriculture,” said Cata Gorgulho, Tarwi’s Managing Director. “Their lupin proteins stood out for their taste, functionality, and quality. We’re confident our consumers will embrace this new formulation.”

Building a Global Supply Chain

WOA’s expansion into Latin America has seen the company enter a region where lupins have been part of traditional diets for centuries.

“Our protein is an excellent fit for these markets, given its neutral flavour and superior performance in food applications such as protein powders, plant-based dairy, and baked goods,” Zhan explained.

These initial orders not only validate the product’s appeal but also strengthen negotiations with distributors and brands in China, North America, the Republic of Korea, and Australia.

Next Steps for WOA

WOA is now focused on:

  • Strengthening partnerships to secure repeat orders.
  • Converting its growing sales pipeline into long-term commercial agreements.
  • Expanding into new markets, particularly China, Korea, and Southeast Asia.

WOA’s ongoing efforts to establish a global network of ingredient buyers position it well for continued growth in the plant-based protein industry.

“With these new orders, we’re not just selling protein—we’re building a global market for lupin as the next big plant-based ingredient,” Zhan concluded.
