Wide Open Agriculture teams up with My Foodie Box to enter East Australia market

Many of our favourite indulgences have a plant-based alternative now, be it meat or milk. Evidently, there is a growing market for plant-based foods, and food companies are all for milking this opportunity. After securing a spot with the first Coles Local launching in Western Australia, regenerative food and agriculture company Wide Open Agriculture Limited (ASX: WOA) has teamed up with meal kit delivery service My Foodie Box Limited (ASX: MBX) to expand its products to the East Coast, starting with New South Wales.

The one-year agreement is expected to be valued at over $300,000. As part of the agreement, My Foodie Box will expand its range of products to include new plant-based products, featuring the first commercial products using Buntine Protein™ by WOA.

Both these companies have a significant presence in Western Australia and are known for producing sustainable products and alternatives. Through this partnership, the two companies will develop an exclusive range of ready-to-eat products using regenerative produce from Dirty Clean Food.

The CEO of Dirty Clean Food, Jay Albany, shared, “We are thrilled to expand our relationship with My Foodie Box to include our plant-based portfolio, which will include the first commercial products incorporating Buntine Protein™—a significant milestone for Wide Open Agriculture and Dirty Clean Food.”

The CEO of My Foodie Box, Mai Hughes, echoes this excitement, as she is eager to expand operations into the Eastern States. She detailed, “With this agreement, we have not only made significant progress towards securing supply for our expansion, but also secured access to an innovative portfolio of regenerative plant-based products for our platform.”

My Foodie Box is WA’s premium meal kit provider. It offers environmentally-friendly products, utilising reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging. Dirty Clean Food’s product line fits seamlessly with MBX’s agenda, which is why the latter has agreed to expand its meal kit and digital portfolio to incorporate Buntine Protein™ and Dirty Clean Food Oat Milk, that is regenerative and carbon neutral oat milk. The companies will also engage in cross-promotional activities.

Besides its Eastern Australia launch to boost its national presence, the Company is also eyeing global expansion after building its brand in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and more, with its plant-based offerings. On September 5, 2022, it signed a non-exclusive distribution agreement with The GrowHub Innovations Company to market and sell Dirty Clean Food’s oat milk in Indonesia and Malaysia. This represents the Company’s bid to boost its market share in South-East Asia, which is expected to grow further in FY23.

All things considered, the Company is riding a wave of sustainable growth as it also set up its pilot production facility for plant-based protein, Buntine Protein®, in WA in June 2022. As for what’s next on its expansion agenda, the Company is preparing to launch in the US and Europe in the coming year.
