Gone are the days of using two separate phones for whatever reason we won’t speculate on. Instead with the emergence of eSims, individual phones have the ability to connect via separate phone numbers – a trend being capitalised on communications company Flexiroam (ASX: FXR) which has entered into a reseller agreement with BP Mobile.
Under the commercial agreement, BP Mobile will become a white-label reseller of eSim connectivity for which Flexiroam will provide connectivity for Second Phone Number plans that cover the USA, Europe and the Americas.
BP Mobile is the developer of the Second Phone Number app which lets users apply a second phone number to their existing smartphone separate to the one of the inserted SIM card. These services utilise the eSim card built into new smart devices which can then be connected via service providers such as Flexiroam which has network operations in more than 200 countries and territories.
“We are pleased that BP Mobile can see the potential that Flexiroam brings as the connectivity provider to the Second Phone Number app. The data bundles to three key regions will allow us to scale data usage via this third party channel,” said Flexiroam CEO, Marc Barnett.
“We have provided 11 customised data plans for BP Mobile as a start. BP Mobile has strong brand recognition, with 500 million users across their 50 projects, which have consistently high positions in the App Store ratings.”
The initial 1-year term will secure $275,000 in new revenue for Flexiroam who will provide connectivity via users of the Second Phone Number app from iOS and Android devices.
From within the Second Phone Number app, users are able to swap phone numbers without the need to remove and insert new sim cards, or go through the process of acquiring burner phones. Revenue is generated by BP Mobile via the sale of minutes for calls or individual text messages from each number utilised without the need to enter into a telecommunications contract.
“We are excited to be accessing Flexiroam’s network for our Second Phone Number app on iOS and Android, ensuring our customers have access to the strongest, most secure and most stable networks available,” said BP Mobile Chief Operating Officer, Marina Osmacova.
“The Second Phone Number app provides the flexibility for customers to use an additional phone number via eSIM, removing the need to utilize physical SIM cards and Flexiroam will provide the connectivity for data bundles sold for the USA, Europe and the Americas. We currently have 100k monthly active users for our Second Number App, covering a diverse mix of business customers and travellers.”
Based in Florida, BP Mobile is a mobile app developer with a focus on business and lifestyle projects. To date, their apps have been downloaded by more than 500 million people worldwide.
