Enmore Gold Project Shows Exploration Potential
Koonenberry Gold (ASX:KNB) has returned high-grade gold intercepts from its first diamond drillhole at the Enmore Gold Project in northeast New South Wales. The results validate historical drill data and highlight the potential for a significant mineralised system.
Managing Director Dan Power described the outcome as “a truly exciting result from our first ever drillhole into the Enmore Project.”
Drill Results Confirm Significant Gold Zones
Key assay results from drillhole 25ENDD001 at the Sunnyside Prospect include:
- 170m @ 1.75g/t Au from 77m, including:
- 18.3m @ 9.95g/t Au from 172.9m
- 0.3m @ 144.5g/t Au from 173.8m
The intercept aligns with previously reported visible gold zones and is associated with intense multiphase veining, sulphides, and breccia.
Power noted that the hole “was planned to target high-grade vein sets at a high angle to the main shear zone, and we have certainly demonstrated the potential for this system to carry exceptionally high gold grades.”
More Drill Results Expected in April
Koonenberry Gold is continuing its drilling campaign at the Sunnyside Prospect, with holes 2, 3, and 4 also intersecting visible gold. Assay results for these holes are expected in April.
Drilling remains ongoing, with hole 25ENDD005 currently underway. To date, 1,630.3 metres of drilling has been completed, with approximately 1,400 metres remaining.
“Samples from holes 25ENDD002, 003, and 004, which all intersected visible gold, are now at the lab and will be reported through April,” Power said.
Exploration Strategy and Geological Insights
The drill program aims to extend known mineralisation and improve geological understanding of the Enmore system.
Koonenberry Gold designed hole 25ENDD001 to confirm historical results, including OSSRC06, which previously returned 174m @ 1.83g/t Au from surface, with a high-grade section of 3m @ 8.86g/t Au from 171m.
The company reports that gold mineralisation remains open up-dip in the preferred granite host rock, along strike, and at depth.
The Enmore Gold Project, covering 302km², is located approximately 30km from Armidale and 20km south of the Hillgrove Gold-Antimony Mine. The New England Fold Belt, where Enmore is situated, hosts several large deposits, including Ravenswood (8Moz Au), Mt Morgan (7.7Moz Au, 0.36Mt Cu), and Cracow (2.5Moz Au). Despite its prospectivity, the belt remains underexplored, particularly in New South Wales.
Next Steps for Koonenberry Gold
With drilling ongoing and more assay results expected in the coming weeks, KNB is focused on expanding the mineralised system at Sunnyside. The latest results reinforce the potential for both broad intervals of gold mineralisation and high-grade zones.
“Drilling at Sunnyside is ongoing and continues to target extensions to the system, which we have demonstrated to have a 240m vertical depth extent on three sections,” Power concluded.
