FlexiRoam Targets Travel Insurance Market with Generali AI Partnership

FlexiRoam Targets Travel Insurance Market with Generali AI Partnership

The global travel insurance sector is expanding rapidly, creating new opportunities to embed digital services directly into customer journeys. With the market projected to reach US$132.9 billion by 2034 according to Allied Market Research, companies offering seamless, value-added solutions are positioning for early advantage.

FlexiRoam Limited (ASX:FRX) is moving into this space through a new enterprise partnership with Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad, part of one of the world’s largest insurance groups.

CEO Jefrey Ong framed the opportunity clearly.

“This partnership provides a strategic entry into the global travel insurance sector – a market projected to grow at over 18% annually to reach US$132.9 billion by 2034.”

Deploys AI Connectivity via WhatsApp

Under the agreement, Generali Malaysia will adopt FlexiRoam’s AI-assisted connectivity platform, using its “Zero-Integration” capability to deliver eSIM services directly through WhatsApp.

This removes the need for complex system integration or app downloads, enabling a faster rollout within existing customer channels.

Mr Ong highlighted the shift in how enterprises want to deploy connectivity.
“Major brands want to offer connectivity to their customers, but they do not want the technical headache or the friction of app downloads.”

The approach reflects FlexiRoam’s “app-less, chat-first” distribution model, designed to simplify access for users while reducing implementation barriers for partners.

Launch of Initial Customer Rollout

The agreement includes an initial one-month rollout, where eligible Generali Malaysia policyholders will receive complimentary roaming data via WhatsApp.

This phase will be used to assess customer engagement and operational performance before any broader expansion.

Mr Ong pointed to the speed of deployment enabled by the platform.

“By utilising our new platform, Generali Malaysia is able to deploy a seamless experience on WhatsApp rapidly.”

Both FlexiRoam and Generali Malaysia will use insights from this rollout to explore additional use cases across Generali’s customer ecosystem.

Aligns with Enterprise AI Strategy

The partnership centres on applying AI-driven connectivity solutions within insurance, particularly at key customer touchpoints such as travel.

FlexiRoam sees travel insurance as a high-intent moment where connectivity can be embedded as an immediate value-add.

Mr Ong signalled that this is part of a broader strategic shift.

“Securing a partnership with a global giant like Generali supports our strategic pivot to an AI-first, zero-integration platform.”

Generali operates in more than 50 countries and reported €95.2 billion in premium income and €863 billion in assets under management in 2024, underscoring the scale of the opportunity.

Structure of the Commercial Agreement

The agreement commenced on 20 December 2025 and runs for an initial term of one year, with potential renewal subject to mutual agreement.

Revenue will be generated based on the number of connectivity entitlements issued to eligible policyholders during the rollout.

FlexiRoam noted it is not currently able to quantify expected revenue, as this will depend on customer participation levels.

Despite this, the company considers the agreement material due to the scale of the Generali Group and the validation it provides for its platform.

FlexiRoam now Positioned for Broader Expansion

The companies intend to use the initial rollout as a foundation for potential expansion across additional customer journeys and use cases.

Mr Ong indicated the partnership could extend further over time.

“We view this as the beginning of a long-term relationship.”

He added that the focus will now shift to execution and scaling opportunities.

“We look forward to executing this initial rollout and exploring how we can expand our AI-driven solutions across Generali’s broader customer base.”

With enterprise adoption of AI platforms accelerating, FlexiRoam’s ability to deliver connectivity without integration friction may prove central to unlocking partnerships at scale—starting with travel insurance and potentially beyond.
