With Aussie tech unicorn Atlassian set to adopt its new “Team Anywhere” policy, shareholders are praising the Company for prudent savings they will realise upon the downgrading of headquarters. Still in need of a postal address however, its visionary founder was spotted perusing some ‘interesting’ options for the post-COVID HQ.
Under its new “Team Anywhere” policy, Atlassian’s 5,700 staff around the world will be asked to work permanently from home. In doing so, the Company is at the forefront of a transformational movement in corporate culture where many multinationals are at proverbial arms as to whether or not staff should be returning to the office, post-COVID.
Unlike most policies where employees are expected to live within commutable distance of the office, Atlassian has thrown that out the window. So long as they have working rights in a country where Atlassian operates, co-founder Mike Cannon Brookes is onboard.
So keen is the billionaire’s intent to facilitate the work-life balance of his employees, he was spotted in some sketchy neighbourhoods where a new Head Office would undoubtedly save the Company millions in rental expenses.
“We’ve had 537 Paper Street on the market for years and some scruffy bloke came asking to inspect it,” said real estate agent Hugh Honey, of Honey and Vinegar Realty.
“He looked like the kind of fella that it would be perfect for, we just haven’t been able to rent it out since the previous tenants destroyed the place. Between the soapy chemical stench and blood-stained floors, I never expected to lease it out but this bloke looked like he’d be right at home.”
