When Martina Martinez told her mother she was dropping out of high school to live a life without boundaries or governance, it was met with backlash and suggestions of stupidity. But with Australia currently undergoing an energy crisis which has resulted in mass blackouts, Martinez’s decision has been met with vindication as her mother knocked on her box in need of a candle.
Since leaving home to live a carefree life, Martinez has failed to secure a roof over her head. Dubbing herself an artisan candlemaker, Martinez finds her work deeply rewarding with her on track to try a Melbourne smashed avo for the first time as demand for her governance-free products have surged amid the intense energy crisis.
“We have too many labels in this world and that’s why candle making is so rewarding,” said Martinez.
“As the ultimate form of reincarnation, I find used candles from people’s trash and melt them down to create new ones.
“In our world of labels, we have dissatisfied men that want to rebrand themselves as women to dominate female sport which has only led to more anger from all corners of the world. With candles, I melt those dissatisfied labels down and they are re-born.”
Following the sale of her latest candle, Martinez finally tried smashed avo for the first time.
Her mother had never been so proud.
