In the progressive world of political correctness, employers must now be prepared for questions across all PC fronts after one media company lost out on a prospective hire who turned down the job due to the company’s lack of gender neutral employees.
Interviewing for a Journalist position with Paddy’s Tribune, Martin/a Martinez was flying through her interview with years of journalism experience comfortably positioning he/her at the top of the applicant pool.
“She looked like he’d been doing it rough over the past few years, as has been the case for many journalists, we were really looking forward to offering it a position here,” said Editor and Recruiter, Hugh Honey.
“When we got to the end and asked if he had any questions for us, she asked how many gender-neutral employees we had here on staff.
“We politely told her the truth in that we did not have any but would welcome them to be our first, should they wish to join us.”
To Honey’s surprise, Martinez turned down the offer.
“Excuse me but no paycheck is worth the shame of being your token diversity hire,” it said before storming out of the office.
Martinez, who describes him/her/itself as ‘gender fluid’ alternates between Martin and Martina as her preferred name.
Honey was ordered to attend diversity training. As the sole employee of Paddy’s Tribune, the business will shut down until he returns.
