Hospital receptionist empties storage, embarks on new career as coronavirus economist

As fears of the coronavirus spread globally, one savvy receptionist has found herself a clever side-hustle selling face masks, of which she has abundant access.

With hundreds of medical procedure masks now sitting in her garage, hospital receptionist Samantha Sugar is well versed in economic supply and demand models.

“This virus has everyone scared which is why people are walking around downtown with face masks on,” Sugar noted.

“I do the ordering and we get these masks for 5 cents each when the pharmacies are selling them for $5 or more so it’s just sound business to sell them online for three or four dollars each.”

Sugar was later notified that procedure masks have zero effect on stopping the spread of coronavirus and are used solely for stopping droplets from dropping onto patients.

The following day, she was relieved of her duties at the hospital when doctors could not find any procedure masks and quickly checked security footage.
