After doing the hard yards of an unpaid internship, fresh finance graduate Hugo Honey felt the cold arm of reality at Friday night drinks when his advances towards an admin assistant were met with cold rejection.
Skulling his beer in an attempted show of authority, Honey took off his tie to portray a more casual appearance, ran his hand through his hair to highlight a reckless abandon before strutting over to the group of assistants.
“It was a car crash waiting to happen,” said colleague Vic Vinegar.
“We had a big win on the market so we had a few drinks and everyone was feeling good. Hugo’s new to it all and kept telling us how he’s going to smash it if we ever take his training wheels off.
“He’d been eyeing off one of the girls in HR since he started so assumed today would be the day he broke the ice, impressing her with the team’s big win.”
Honey quickly whimpered back over after his advances were laughed off and as the women resumed their conversation.
“Oh yeah, I’m pretty sure that chick processes payroll so she definitely knows what the rookie actually makes,” snickered Vinegar.
