With a lack of qualified women of diversity within the Trump administration, President Donald Trump has turned to Tinder in search of a Vice-President candidate in retaliation to the nomination of Kamala Harris as the Democrat VP nominee.
The nomination of Ms Harris, the first woman of colour on any major party ticket, has seen an outpouring of support for the Democrat Party with minority groups vocal in their support of Ms Harris who was appointed Attorney General of California in 2011 and then elected as a United States Senator for California in 2017.
While the Trump campaign has not been targeting these diverse demographics, the sheer volume of support may have changed the campaign’s sentiment based on a surprise match that came up on 31-year-old Martina Martinez’s Tinder account.
“I was just minding my own business looking to find me a man and suddenly the President came up as being within 30km of me,” said Martinez.
“I swiped right just to see what would happen and it said he’d already swiped right on me too, so we were a match.
“At first I thought it was a glitch because my settings has been set to educated Men under 50, and since I’m transgender Latino, there was no way he could come up as a match for me. But there he was as a good match.”
The match on Tinder for Martinez would make sense due to a lack of qualified women of diverse backgrounds in Trump’s cabinet and abundance that are regularly in Washington on political duties, within the range of dating apps.
