Co-worker fades back into office existence after finally watching Squid Game

After being totally ignored and left out of all office banter for the past week, Hugh Honey has returned to being acknowledged as a real person, having finally watched Squid Game.

To do so, Honey had to stay up all night on Tuesday to power through 8 episodes of the Korean series which is set to become the most watched show in Netflix history. With its viral popularity and audiences lapping up the gorey-suspense thriller, internet memes and Tik Tok videos have been a flavour of the week in Honey’s department.

Having no idea what any were in reference to when first forwarded to him, Honey’s downfall came when he disclosed that he had not seen the show yet. He was quickly taken off all mailing lists and no one in the office recalls actually having any contact with him this week.

“I wasn’t really sure what happened. Last week everyone was happy throwing banter around the AFL Grand Final but over the past few days, it’s like I’ve been invisible to everyone,” said Honey.

“I thought it might have had something to do with that TV show so I stumped up the $8 for a Netflix subscription and stayed up all night watching it.”

Upon his arrival back into the office, Honey sought to share his enthusiasm by walking into the office with masking tape on his face akin to the Guard characters in the show. It was instantly recognised as his fellow co-workers quickly started including him in the memes being forwarded around.

Later that day, Honey was dismissed by his employer after failing to attend a crucial meeting with his major client. He was found asleep at his desk after binging 8 hours of television on a weeknight.
