Perth-based telco company Pentanet Limited (ASX: 5GG) has collaborated with NVIDIA to upgrade its cloud infrastructure. Integrating NVIDIA L40 GPUs into Pentanet’s Gen 3 cloud infrastructure has enabled the company to join NVIDIA’s Graphics Delivery Network (GDN), extending its reach to over 130 countries.
The move to join NVIDIA GDN signifies Pentanet’s intention to broaden its compute capabilities beyond gaming. By leveraging NVIDIA’s cloud infrastructure, Pentanet aims to tap into various industrial and commercial opportunities. According to Pentanet Managing Director, Mr. Stephen Cornish, joining the NVIDIA global Graphics Delivery Network will pave the way for new commercial ventures beyond gaming.
Pentanet Managing Director, Stephen Cornish, said, “Joining the NVIDIA global Graphics Delivery Network will open a pathway to new commercial opportunities beyond gaming. The L40 GPU infrastructure brings the most advanced NVIDIA RTX capabilities to help power next-generation graphics and 3D interactive experiences.”
The NVIDIA L40 GPU, powered by the Ada Lovelace architecture, offers advanced neural graphics, virtualization, and computing capabilities. With features like third-generation RT Cores and 48 GB of GDDR6 memory, the L40 GPU delivers enhanced real-time ray-tracing performance, accelerating creative workflows and interactive experiences.
NVIDIA Senior Product Manager, Candice Mudrick, said, “By offloading heavy compute tasks to GDN, businesses can easily bring websites to life in 3D and engage customers with interactive experiences like product configurators, metaverse collaboration spaces, and virtual try-on solutions.”
Pentanet recently confirmed the implementation of a revision to the GeForce NOW Alliance Partner Agreement (GFNA Agreement) with NVIDIA. This amendment officially acknowledges New Zealand as an operational territory and outlines a potential expansion to neighbouring regions. Moreover, the agreement grants Pentanet continued exclusivity as the distributor of GeForce NOW in Australia.
Since its launch, Pentanet has attracted over 530,000 members of GeForce NOW Powered by CloudGG, supported by infrastructure in Perth and Sydney. The company has also established a robust base of paid memberships, effectively offsetting the initial fixed monthly costs incurred during the service’s launch phase. Notably, the cloud gaming market in Australia is forecasted to undergo substantial growth in the foreseeable future.
In H1 FY24, Pentanet’s consolidated revenue increased 7% compared to the previous corresponding period, reaching $10.4 million. Telecommunications revenue also rose 3% to $9.5 million, while gaming revenue surged by 88% to $0.9 million.
NVIDIA, a leading figure in the AI revolution and valued at $3.3 trillion, has endorsed Pentanet’s endeavours. This endorsement not only enhances Pentanet’s reputation but also positions Australia and New Zealand favourably in the technological landscape.
