Surefire Identifies New Gold Discovery at Yidby with High-Grade Surface Results

Strong gold prices and continued exploration across Western Australia are driving renewed focus on underexplored regions with historical mineralisation. Projects demonstrating high-grade surface results are attracting attention as potential sources of future discoveries.

Surefire Resources (ASX:SRN) has reported a new gold discovery at its Yidby Gold Project in Western Australia, with high-grade surface rock samples returning strong assay results from a previously unexplored area. The results outline a new mineralised zone approximately 1.5km north of the existing Yidby Gold Deposit.

New Gold Mineralisation Identified

The discovery confirms a new style of gold mineralisation at Yidby, hosted within Albitite rock, with mineralisation identified across two locations approximately 500 metres apart.

Recent fieldwork was designed to follow up historical results from Western Mining Corporation (WMC) in the 1970s, which reported solid gold grades from float samples in the area.

The validation of these historical results, combined with the Company’s recent sampling, has defined a new gold mineralised corridor extending approximately 2km, which remains largely untested.

Expanding Exploration Potential

The identification of gold mineralisation within Albitite lithology is potentially significant from a geological perspective, with similar occurrences associated with major gold deposits across Western Australia’s Yilgarn Craton.

The presence of strong surface grades across multiple locations suggests the potential for further discoveries along strike and at depth.

Drilling to Test Growth Opportunities

Surefire has commenced a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program of approximately 10,000 metres, to be completed in two stages.

The program is designed to extend known mineralisation at Yidby along strike and at depth, as well as test north-south extensions at the Cashens Prospect and newly defined geophysical targets at Copper Hill.

Outlook for Yidby

The new discovery materially enhances the exploration potential of the Yidby Project, with high-grade surface results and a newly identified mineralised corridor highlighting the opportunity to define a larger, potentially continuous gold system.

With multiple mineralised zones already identified, validation of historical high-grade results, and a substantial drilling program underway, Yidby is emerging as a high-priority growth asset with clear potential to deliver a meaningful expansion of the existing gold footprint in Western Australia.
