No longer will husbands around the world be held back from a ‘beer with the lads’ or be demanded to perform the generally-expected house duties of a normal man with the latest #FreeHusbands campaign gaining traction across social media.
Inspired by Britney Spears and the #FreeBritney campaign that has gathered an outpouring of support for the pop star, husbands too are now tired of being undermined for their lack of mental capacity to make sound decisions.
Hugh Honey, leader of the social movement, is pleased that it is gaining attention online with many other husbands now coming out in solidarity to fight oppression that regularly forces them to “load the dishwasher when there’s a good game of footy on”.
“It’s about time that husbands around the world fought back and took a stand for what should be our human right,” said Honey.
“If I want to sit on the couch in my pajamas all weekend while maxing the credit card on Uber Eats, that should be my prerogative.”
A closer inspection of social media traffic identified the majority of hashtag searches were coming from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Estonia and Latvia – countries with notable gender imbalances due to a lack of men in their populations.
