After failing in their attempts to innovate as Pooch Perfect face planted harder than Fat Amy, the ratings success from their renewal of Big Brother has prompted Channel 7 to revisit other failed reality shows. Cheaters, There’s Something About Miriam and Date My Mom are just some on their list of potential renewals.
Like Big Brother though, any renewal will need a tweak from the original reality show concept and couch potato Vic Vinegar offered Seven West Media (ASX: SWM) some suggestions.
“Cheaters were groundbreaking in the day. But now with so much social vigilance, they could re-name it Homewreckers and see how many families they can destroy on-screen,” suggested Vinegar.
“The Epstein documentaries are really popular right now, so Date My Mom could be remade as Date My Daughter where Dads work to auction off their daughter and boost their value through a series of challenges.”
Channel 7’s renovated renewal of Big Brother was a ratings hit, attracting 3.5 million viewers for the season launch, the first time the show had aired on Australian television since being axed in 2008.
