Amid the raft of election promises that get thrown into public domain every four years, one of the most controversial this time around is the $50k Superannuation Access scheme. Saving time and paperwork for all those who already own homes and don’t care about the policy’s impact, millennial Vic Vinegar has agreed to just give $50k of his superannuation to a rich old white guy, and continue being priced out of home ownership.
As highlighted by just about every economist that has looked at the proposed policy, the program will do nothing other than drive the price of houses up by $50k as first home owners that utilise the scheme, bid against each other with the extra $50k in their pocket.
For short-sighted millennials, they just gave their vote to ScoMo.
For anyone that already owns a home, they just gave their vote to ScoMo.
For Hugh Honey, he’s going to save everyone the time and effort and just sign $50k of his super over to ScoMo, while still not owning a home.
