Although the Summer of Cricket appears to have started earlier than normal with her husband glued to the T20 World Cup each night, Martina Martinez can deal with a few weeks of being ignored, knowing that she’ll get that attention back after the World Cup(s).
“We made an agreement at the start of the year that when the World Cup is on, he can skip his chores for the week,” said Martinez.
“The World Cup is only once every few years so it will be nice to be able to spend time as a family once it’s over and there is no more cricket to watch.”
When quizzed further if there were any terms to that agreement, Martinez seemed perplexed.
“It’s a World Cup, it just goes for a few weeks doesn’t it?”
Martinez was then made aware that the T20 World Cup runs from October 16 to November 13 and is then followed by the FIFA World Cup from November 21 to December 19.
Outraged by the swindle, Martinez immediately stormed to her husband’s mancave to review the terms of the agreement.
The door was locked.
